Shots fired reported at Oxford Circus tube station in London


Police responded to what they believe is a “terrorist related” incident at London’s Oxford Circus Tube station Friday.


Metropolitan Police responded to reports of shots fired on Oxford Street and underground at Oxford Circus tube station.


“If you are on Oxford Street go into a building and stay inside until further direction,” Metropolitan Police said in a statement.


Police advised the public to avoid the Oxford Street area Friday.


British Transport police said the Oxford Circus Station was closed for an investigation into a “customer incident.”

“All trains are not stopping and paper tickets will be accepted on local buses.” Transport for London said on Twitter.


Eyewitnesses reported hearing people screaming on the platform and seeing a stampede of riders trying to leave the station.


No deaths have been reported.
