Govs. Andrew Cuomo and Phil Murphy, joint masters of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, really do want higher wages for 40,000 cleaners, guards and bag handlers at JFK, LaGuardia and Newark airports. But the airlines objected at the last minute, forcing the Port to add another public comment period, possibly delaying raises past Sept. 1. The govs should have sped it along by okaying the PA’s action weeks ago. Wary of a lawsuit, they stood by. Next time, stand by the workers.
