Passenger critically injured as boozed-up driver slams into pole

A drunken driver smashed into a street pole at a busy Brooklyn intersection early Saturday, leaving a woman riding shotgun in critical condition, authorities said.

The 60-year-old wasted wheelman smashed a Nissan Pathfinder SUV head-on into a light pole at the corner of Flatbush Ave. and Kings Highway in Flatlands around 1:05 a.m., cops said.

Medics found his passenger, a 51-year-old woman, suffering from severe head trauma and rushed her to Kings County Hospital in critical condition.

The driver, whose name was not immediately released, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, cops said.

He was also taken to Kings County Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries.
