A timeline of Sayfullo Saipov’s lower Manhattan terror rampage


1. A man driving a rented Home Depot truck entered the West Side Highway bike path at 3:05 p.m. at Houston St. He drove south mowing down pedestrians and cyclists.


2. At Chambers St., near Stuyvesant High School, the truck slammed into a school bus, injuring two adults and two children, police said.


3. Sayfullo Saipov, 29, jumped out of the truck and screamed “Allahu Akbar” after the crash, witnesses told police.


4. The driver brandished what appeared to be two handguns. The “weapons” were later determined to be a paintball gun and a pellet gun. They were recovered at the scene.

5. Officer Ryan Nash, assigned to the NYPD’s 1st Precinct, confronted Saipov and shot him in the midsection, police said. The suspect survived.


6. Stuyvesant High School, Public School 89 and Public School 289 were placed on lockdown after the incident.


7. Police said 11 people were injured, but expected to survive.

Sayfullo Saipov, 29, was arrested in the attack that killed at least 8.


8. Schools lifted their lockdowns by 5:30 p.m.

9. President Trump was briefed, and later tweeted about the attack. “In NYC, looks like another attack by a very sick and deranged person. Law enforcement is following this closely. NOT IN THE U.S.A.!”
