Conor McGregor will jump at any opportunity to fight inside the ring.
After Charlie Ward finished off his opponent, John Redmond, with a left hook at 3Arena during Friday night’s “Bellator 187” in Dublin, McGregor scaled the cage fence to join in on the celebration with one of his training partners.
Within seconds of the first-round knockout, McGregor had entered the cage and pounced on Ward, embracing him in a celebratory hug that knocked both to the ground before referee Marc Goddard broke it up.
Goddard, who reportedly has a history with McGregor, apparently angered McGregor with his attempts to clear up the ring.
Conor McGregor sued by security guard who he hit with thrown can
The Irish MMA superstar, who was not a licensed cornerman for the match, started screaming at Goddard. He eventually shoved the official as he was checking on Redmond, who was still kneeling on the mat after the hit from Ward.
McGregor was grappled by security but ultimately left the cage on his own, returning once more to yell “that was a f–king stoppage” before being ejected from the match by Goddard.
The scene caused a stir in 3Arena as McGregor waved to the fans in attendance after his final exit. It is unclear if “The Notorious” will be penalized for Friday’s incident.
