Foxborough — Tom Thumb appears to be just fine.
Tom Brady came out for warmups with just black tape around his injured right thumb about 45 minutes to prior to the start of Sunday’s AFC Championship game against the Jaguars. He was not wearing a glove on his right hand.As usual, he had a glove on his left hand.
Brady was injured in practice Wednesday when his right hand collided with the helmet of running back Rex Burkhead on a handoff. He reportedly needed 10 stiches to close a wound under his right thumb near his palm. The reports said it was a bloody mess.
Brady ran on the field with backup QB Brian Hoyer for warmups. He arrived at Gillette Stadium at 9:30 a.m., more than five hours before kickoff, but had his right hand tucked in his jacket as he walked to the Patriots locker room. When he came on the field, he had tape that extended from the back of his thumb around to underneath it without actually wrapping around the finger.
His passes looked crisp and on target for the 20 minutes he was throwing in the warmups.
