Sonny Gray regresses, gives up five runs as Yankees lose to A’s

Gray now has a 6.39 ERA through eight starts. He appeared to be on track for a turnaround after consecutive starts in which he allowed two runs in six innings, but that was short lived. The nine hits allowed and two home runs were season-highs, and he’s given up at least five runs in three of his outings. Dustin Fowler, traded in a package for Gray after suffering a scary knee injury in his big-league debut with the Yanks last season, recorded his first MLB hit off Gray.
