SEE IT: Bald Eagle lands on Mariners pitcher James Paxton

America’s bird meets America’s past time.

A Bald eagle landed on the shoulders of Mariners pitcher James Paxton following the national anthem at the Twins home opener at Target Field Thursday.

Paxton was standing in the outfield when the bird went rogue and chose to perch on the pitcher’s shoulders.

The 29-year-old kept his cool and remained relaxed when the eagle flew at him.

James Paxton had an unexpected visitor fly onto his shoulder Thursday before the Twins-Mariners game.

Fortunately for Paxton the eagle didn’t attack him and remained on his arm for only a moment before returning to the outfield grass.

Eventually the bird’s handler was able to bring the eagle back into custody.

Paxton was making his second start of the season Thursday after surrendering six earned runs to the Indians on Saturday.
