Fizdale, a Los Angeles native, knows the NBA life at each level. He earned a bachelor’s degree in communications and a minor in sociology, but he elected to study the NBA following commencement. His NBA clock started in 1997, when he signed on as an intern with the Miami Heat’s video department. Following that season, he returned to his college alma mater, this time as an assistant. He stayed four seasons before moving on to Fresno State as an assistant coach and then back to the NBA, where he worked under Musselman at Golden State before that staff was fired. Fizdale’s next job was with the Atlanta Hawks. He did not stop moving his feet. He next found a home again with the Miami Heat for eight seasons, where he won two NBA championships as the associate head coach to Erik Spoelstra.
