Madden: Yankees need more pitching if they want to make a World Series run

Ouch. That last one hurts, but if Connie Mack was right when he allegedly said pitching was 75% of baseball, the Yankee starters pale in comparison to the rotations of the Astros and Red Sox, either or both of whom they will have to get past in the postseason, depending on whether they are able to win the AL East outright. The Astros starters presently lead the majors — by a lot — in ERA (2.25), batting average against (.186) and innings per start (6.40) — to the Yankees’ 4.13, .229 and 5.43. The Red Sox starters are third in ERA (3.54) and innings per start (5.82)
