Eli Apple says he didn’t talk with Landon Collins about retweet

The Eli Apple drama took another bizarre turn on Thursday.

Apple said his retweet of an account praising Cowboys running back Rod Smith’s 81-yard touchdown was a “mistake” and that he had spoken to some teammates about it.

However, he said Landon Collins was not among them.

“Landon? No,” Apple said. “DRC… he spoke to me about some of the frustrations you go through as a younger player.”

Collins said on Wednesday he has had sit-downs with Apple throughout the year and that he was “surprised” he was still with the team considering all the personal issues Apple has dealt with this season.

Collins sounded surprised that Apple said they didn’t speak.

“Is that what he said? I don’t know. It is what it is,” Collins said. “I don’t want to start no controversy with my teammate. I spoke highly of him.”
