Chris Paul gets called for turnover for high-fiving Harden’s mom

The high five may have been up high, but the call by the refs was down low.

Chris Paul was hilariously called for a turnover for high-fiving James Harden’s mom in the closing seconds of the Rockets’ 96-85 win over the Jazz at Vivint Smart Home Arena Monday night.

With a little over 11 seconds left in the game and the Rockets up 96-85, the Jazz seemed ready to let Paul simply dribble out the clock. Paul proceeded to dribble near the sidelines where Harden’s mom, Monja Willis, stood up to give Paul a high five.

However, since Paul still had the ball in his hands and Willis was standing out of bounds, when the All-Star point guard gave Willis a high five he was immediately called for a turnover.

Paul ended up laughing about the entire play after the game, posting to Twitter, “C’mon @jharden13…get ya moms!!”

The correct, but silly call ended up having no bearing on the game, however, with the score remaining in tact and the Rockets coming away with the win.
