Brett Gardner, despite .198 batting average, will remain Yankees’ leadoff hitter for foreseeable future

“There’s nothing that has me moving (Gardner) down right now. I will consider it if he’s in there against a tough lefty or a lefty that isn’t necessarily a reverse split guy,” said Boone Wednesday, before the Yankees played the Red Sox at the Stadium. “That’s something where I might move him down and hit Aaron at the top – Aaron Hicks, that is. Never say never to (Aaron) Judge either. Right now I’m comfortable enough with what I’m seeing out of Gardy to keep him where he’s at.”
