Viva Travel: September is perfect time to visit Porto, Portugal

From Carmo’s drove further West and stop in the historic town of Amarante along the river Tâmega. The great Serra do Marão, a mountain that creates the border between the Duoro and Porto regions, rises high above the city in a series of majestic landscapes. This town is super-small, but two musts include the Amarante art museum, Municipal Museum Amadeo de Souza Cardoso, and a quick visit to the local Confeitaria de Ponte bakery. They are famous for making desserts that you can only find in Amarante, including the convent candies of Aramante, made here since 1930. Leave with a nice bounty of baked goods for your drive back to Porto.
