“The Effectiveness of School-Based Mental Health Services for Elementary-Aged Children: A Meta-Analysis”
Services provided by teachers and school staff can significantly reduce mental health problems in elementary-age students, finds a study in the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Researchers from Florida International University’s Mental Health Interventions and Technology program found less than half of students with a mental health problem get treatment. And, more than half of those who do get help, receive it in school. The researchers analyzed 43 studies that evaluated nearly 50,000 students who had received variety of school-based mental health services.
