Princess Michael of Kent, who has a history of sparking racial firestorms, ignited another one by wearing jewelry considered insensitive to a Royal family gathering attended by Meghan Markle.

Photographs of the 72-year-old Princess, who’s married to the Queen’s cousin, en route to Buckingham Palace Wednesday show her sporting a “blackamoor” brooch.
The statement pin, set against Princess Michael’s snow white coat, depicted a black figure in a gold robe and headdress. The style of the accessory is controversial because it fetishizes dark-skinned slaves and servants.

Social media blew up in a brooch brouhaha in response to jewelry.
“It’d (sic) been wondering what tactics Princess Michael would use to keep MM in her place; she’s so belligerently racist,” tweeted @jin—crow.
“Well, remember what I said about Megan Markel begin called the n-word by her new in-laws? They’re wasting no time getting started!” posted @ProfBlacktruth.
It is believed to be the first time the 72-year-old royal and Markle, whose mother is black, have met.

But it’s not the first time that Princess Michael has set off a racial fury. In 2004, she was accused of telling a group of black people in a New York restaurant to “go back to the colonies.” She denied the claims at the time.
Princess Michael’s spokesman told TMZ that she’s “very sorry and distressed” about wearing the racially insensitive pin. The Royal reportedly plans to retire the brooch.
