Prince George and Princess Charlotte may live in a palace, but in some ways, they’re just like other kids. On Wednesday, their step-grandmother, the Duchess of Cornwall (you may still think of her as Camilla Parker-Bowles) appeared on the television show MasterChef Australia and revealed a tasty tidbit about the young royals.
It seems Prince William’s children have a favorite condiment, and as any grandparents do, Camilla and the Prince of Wales keep it in the fridge for them.
When show judge Gary Mehigan asked the Duchess about her kitchen essentials, she named olive oil, tomato puree, and that best friend to French fries, ketchup.
“For my grandchildren,” she said, “They are rather addicted to ketchup,” she said.
Yes, Camilla does have other grandchildren, and they’re all of a prime age to love the tomatoey condiment, so we’re going to assume the little royals are included in that ketchup-loving group.
No word on whether Charlotte and George use it on fries (called chips in England, of course) or just on everything, as many kids do. But Camilla also shared a few other royal food secrets.
Prince Charles, it turns out, is a true cheese-lover. “He’s a huge cheese fan, anything to do with cheese, he will love,” she said, adding that the prince can’t resist “anything with eggs” and local vegetables.
And the one food royals must avoid? “I hate to say this, but garlic,” the Duchess told Mehigan. “Garlic is a no-no.”
“Because you’re (always) talking, chatting (with other people)?” Mehigan asked.
“Yes, exactly,” she confirmed. “So you always have to lay off the garlic.”
